Hi everyone, I’m Dean, head coach and owner of Natural Advancement Health and Fitness. Thanks for taking the time to read a little about me.
I’ve been happily married since 2006 to my wife Danielle and we have the newest member of the family, Elijah. Exciting times!
I’ve always been very active right back from when I was a young child. I played all sports but predominately loved touch football and rugby league. I also grew up on the beach and loved being in the water, particularly bodyboarding. I first picked up the weights when I was about 16 in my Uncle’s back shed. I didn’t really know what I was doing. Remember back then we didn’t have the benefit of the internet and its abundance of help! Instead I followed a few basic routines out of muscle mags I found lying around and realised how good it made me feel in and out. This is where my love for training first began.
I dabbled in and out of weight training for about 10 years whilst still playing a lot of sport. In 2010 I injured my lower hamstring sprinting and I was forced to channel my love for physical activity in other ways. This led me to take my weight training more seriously.
After some years in the gym I began to see how the attitudes of people were changing. It was all about image and very little to do with health and fitness. In fact even sacrificing their wellbeing for image. I needed to take a step back and re-evaluate why I loved training. This led me to contact an online coach myself who was a champion natural bodybuilder. It taught me how important nutrition is, in order to achieve optimal health and impressive results. Since then I’ve never looked back. I finally decided after many years I would pursue the career in health and fitness that I always wanted.
I continue to increase my knowledge in training and nutrition daily. I never stop learning. It’s my aim to share this knowledge with you and help you achieve your goals!
